Shirley Crandall Chaired the ESA Gala April 2, 2016 because she enjoys helping high school girls in inner city schools attend a 9 month mentoring program and are then eligible to receive college scholarship money by submitting a business plan.

Created in 1999, Entrepreneurial Spirit Awards (ESA) has become The Premier Entrepreneurial Event honoring the valuable contributions made by women business owners in the San Antonio area. Recognized as the most coveted award by women business owners, ESA is the only award presented exclusively to women entrepreneurs by their peers. NAWBO propels women entrepreneurs into economic, social, and political spheres of power worldwide. Through the NAWBO San Antonio Foundation, thousands of dollars in scholarships are awarded to area teen women who participate in Entrepreneurial Connections (EC). As a collaborative effort between NAWBO-SA members, school representatives and administrators, community leaders, university and corporate sponsors, EC reaches hundreds of teen women in underserved high schools in San Antonio and exposes them to successful women business owners who model that the entrepreneurial dream is possible!
